Privacy and Security

This website has been developed from the ground up with security and privacy
in mind. Elaborate steps have been taken to safeguard all personal information
against indexing, SPAM-bots, and unauthorized viewing. However, the internet is a complex entity and some further explanation is needed.

Information we collect and how we use it

When you use our forms to contact church personnel or request services, we try to get information sufficient for filling the request, which is usually little more than a mailing or email address. This information is made available only to select staff and individuals and is not shared with any third party or organization.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of information that many websites use to record data, which is stored on your hard drive. This website uses "session-cookies" to generate the list of "featured articles" for the cover page.   The session allows you to visit the cover page multiple times without having to re-query the database, thus improving the speed of the website and the quality of the user experience.  We do not use cookies to record anything beyond this, and the cookie expires at the end of your visit.

Is this site secure?

Our website does not employ an SSL (Secure Socket Layer), security certificate, or transfer encryption. These means are required when taking financial or legally-sensitive information, which we do not do.

Measures taken against SPAM-bots and spiders

Indexing spiders and SPAM-bots relentlessly scour the web for email addresses and personal information which is then sold to mass-advertisers, search engines, and information brokers. These "bots" index static web pages and other files stored directly on IIS (the part of computer that functions as a web server). We do not store personal information on IIS, and personal information is never displayed in any format that is readable to indexing technologies or accessible to the public.

Solicitation

The church is interested in serving and helping, but only within the confines of good taste. Every request submitted to our website will receive one auto-response message and one follow-up contact to fulfill your request. You may also receive up to four emails in the first year about church events and as many postal mail invitations to our services. Telephone numbers are never required fields on our forms and the voluntary sharing of your telephone number with us is taken as a trust, subject to the same protection and limitations as applied to your electronic or mailing address.
